Wolves deny Lopetegui link

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly denied links to prospective Spain Coach Julen Lopetegui.

Lopetegui, the former Spain Under-21 trainer, latterly in charge of Porto and a favourite to succeed Vicente del Bosque on the La Roja bench, had been touted as bound for the Championship club amid a connection to possible new owner Robin Li, who has also been linked with an attempted purchase of Milan.

However, local publication the Express and Star says Wolves have rejected the Lopetegui rumour, with Kenny Jackett in the manager’s post.

Both the chance of Lopetegui taking over the team and Li the club as a whole have been ‘rubbished’ by sources from the club, the newspaper says.
