Ronaldo: Time to end Portugal drought

Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo believes the time has come for him to win a trophy with Portugal as “it would be a dream come true”.

Ronaldo’s club career with Manchester United and Real Madrid is littered with silverware, including three FIFA Ballon d’Ors and as many Champions Leagues, but the nearest he has come to replicating that feat with Portugal was a lost European Championship final to Greece in 2004.

“I’ve always said that it would be a dream come true to win a trophy with my national team,” he was quoted as saying by AS ahead of the Seleccao’s Euro 2016 second-round match against Croatia on Saturday.

“I’ve won many trophies in my career, the most important ones, but winning one with Portugal would be something very important.”
