Man City move for Barca target

Manchester City have tabled a reported €21.5m bid for Barcelona target Gabriel Jesus.

One World Sports report that City have lodged the offer with Brazilian club Palmeiras for the 19-year-old striker, who is considered one of the most exciting young talents in world football.

Barca are understood to have offered €19m for Jesus, which Palmeiras and his agents at Adequate Sports Management have rejected, while Manchester United have also come in with a €19.5m proposal.

Pep Guardiola’s City were the last to join the bidding and both Manchester clubs’ offers exceed that of the Blaugrana, although the Catalans believe they have one factor in their favour.

Jesus has already expressed a wish to play at the Camp Nou and is keen to follow in the footsteps of countryman Neymar.

He was also chosen in Brazil former boss Dunga’s provisional 40-man squad for the Copa America in the United States and was considered a replacement for the injured Douglas Costa in the final selection.

However, he eventually missed out through the lack of a US Visa.
