Barca to Neymar: ‘Rich or happy?’

Neymar has allegedly been asked a question by his Barcelona employers as links to other clubs have created unease in the Catalan capital.

The Brazilian has an agreement in place for a contract extension until 2022, including an increase in salary, but it has done nothing to dispel the rumours that Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Real Madrid are all willing to pay €200m to secure his signature.

As a result, Barca are trying to convince the 24-year-old to remain at the Camp Nou purely for football reasons.

“Neymar has to choose between earning money that Barca can’t ever pay him or earning a little less but being happy playing football.

“If he values the better financial offers there is a danger he will leave.

“But he must decide if he wants to be part of a winning project, one which he will eventually end up leading,” SPORT quotes sources at the club as saying, in clear reference to Neymar’s role as the heir apparent to Lionel Messi.
