Barcelona have finally agreed a deal in principle with Lyon for defender Samuel Umtiti, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The newspaper cites sources close to Lyon that claim an agreement with Barca for the transfer of Umtiti has been reached, with only personal terms and a medical left to be fulfilled.
The 22-year-old is quoted as being “blessed” by La Blaugrana’s interest, while the players’ relatives told MD during France’s 0-0 draw with Switzerland in Lille “things are going well” and that a deal was only “a matter of time” away.
It is understood that the relationship between Presidents Josep Maria Bartomeu and Jean-Michel Aulas helped negotiations greatly, the Barca chief also being a fluent speaker of French.
Umtiti should sign a five-year contract with Barca, but no further progress or official announcement is expected to be made until after Euro 2016.
