Barcelona are reportedly “alarmed” by Paris Saint-Germain’s pursuit of Neymar – to the extent that there is only a 50 percent chance of a renewal.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barca feel increasingly threatened by PSG, whose ability to offer Neymar a €50m salary, a sense of tranquillity that has evaded him since details of his transfer from Santos leaked and a starring role in the team is seen as a “real danger”.
The Catalans have spent the last few months working on a contract extension for the 24-year-old, and despite both the player and his father giving the club their approval to the terms offered, the newspaper claims the probability of a new deal being signed has halved.
PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi is said to have made a “spectacular” impact on Neymar’s camp, so much so that the forward is “seriously” considering his future at Camp Nou, although the French giants would still have to pay his €190m release clause.
MD concludes by noting Barca director Raul Sanllehi has travelled to Brazil to speak with Neymar in a bid to turn his head away from PSG and push through contract negotiations.
