Jorge Sampaoli has confirmed that he will be appointed Sevilla’s new Coach once Unai Emery’s exit is formalised.
Links between Sampaoli and Sevilla intensified after Emery’s resignation last week, and the 56-year-old acknowledged on Saturday for the first time that he was bound for the Sanchez Pizjuan.
“I’m hoping that the previous Coach’s exit will be formalised so my arrival can be made official,” he told Radio La Red.
“[The offer from] Sevilla came up this week. This is a team who will play in the Champions League, the [European] Super Cup against Real Madrid and another against Barcelona…
“This is the dream that I had, to manage a team like Sevilla, to compete at this level.”
Sampaoli, who is best known for leading Chile to victory at Copa America 2015, was also photographed landing in Andalucia, where he was greeted by sporting director Monchi.
