Puyol: Best for Bartra to leave

Ex-Barcelona captain turned agent Carles Puyol believes his client Marc Bartra has done the right thing by leaving the club.

Bartra signed for Borussia Dortmund after his transfer clause dropped to €8m due to a lack of playing time in the season just finished, and Puyol says departing Camp Nou is the right step for the Spain international.

“Marc’s numbers are there and in his situation it was advised he leave the club. He’s been brave. He’s played what he’s played this season and we thought it best he leave. I have a lot of trust in him because he is a very good centre-back,” Puyol is quoted as saying by Mundo Deportivo.

“The club has been informed of everything. We have a very good relationship and we are very grateful. If it’s good or bad business isn’t for me to say. But he wasn’t playing a lot. He knew the club wanted him to stay, but there are other circumstances. It is what it is.”
