Antoine Griezmann claims Atletico Madrid’s trip to Bayern Munich was “harder” than the Champions League final but admits the latter was more “emotional”.
Atleti lost their second European final to Real Madrid in three years as a 1-1 draw on Saturday was followed by Juanfran missing a crucial penalty, which Cristiano Ronaldo duly capitalised on, but Griezmann – who failed from the spot in normal time – feels his side had it tougher in the last four.
“The hardest game was in Munich, but this was the most emotional. We gave everything and penalties are a lottery,” the forward said after the game.
“[Diego Simeone] didn’t say much. The truth is that no-one wanted to talk. We were all silent.
“These are difficult times, but you have to forget them as quickly as possible.
“I’m not sorry [for the penalty miss]. I put it where I wanted to and missed by centimetres.
“[On bouncing back in another final], there’s no two without three, hopefully.”
