‘Madrid believe in Casemiro potential’

Real Madrid defender Marcelo admits “it’s very important for us to have a fit Casemiro” in the Champions League final as he is a player with “huge potential”.

Casemiro has grown into an important member of Zinedine Zidane’s Madrid team, despite struggling for game time at the beginning of the Frenchman’s reign, and Marcelo believes the midfielder “will be doing much more than he is now” for Los Blancos.

“We have the best sensations possible, we’re ready and we’re prepared to start the game and get it right,” he said at a Press conference.

“I think finals are games that are decided by small details, and we’re thinking about them.

“Everyone wants to win, so you must play with a lot of intensity, work hard, run a lot and make very few mistakes. The small details make a difference.

“It’s impossible not to think about that game [in Lisbon]. It was a special game, but it’s over for me and we’re dreaming of winning this one.

“We have a chance to relive a truly great day, but we have to work hard and fight. It’s a Champions League final and it’s always difficult.

“For me, [Casemiro] is doing a great job. He’s never protested when he hasn’t played, and he’s been given his opportunity to play for Madrid.

“He’s helping the team and a lad who has huge potential. He’ll be doing much more than he is now. For us, it’s very important to have a fit Casemiro.

“Of course, if we don’t concede goals and score then it’ll be a perfect match.

“We must play with a lot of concentration and be focused until the end of the match to ensure we don’t concede any goals.”
