‘They always think of Ronaldo…’

Cristiano Ronaldo was flattered by Gerard Pique mimicking when celebrating Barcelona’s Primera title win. ‘They think of me even when they win…’

Ronaldo was asked about Pique copying Ronaldo’s pose from an infamous post-match team picture in the second part of an interview with La Sexta’s Jugones, the first part seeing Ronaldo say Madrid should renew his contract shortly before it was reported Los Blancos are close to doing exactly that.

“Even when they win a trophy they think of Cristiano. Right or wrong, they talk about me. But I have no problem with Pique,” Ronaldo said, AS reports, before being asked how he’d react if his son grew up a Barcelona supporter.

“It wouldn’t happen. He has his Dad’s genes. But if it did, I’d accept it. I wouldn’t take him to Camp Nou but I wouldn’t punish him. He’s my son.

“Having a son has changed my life in a lot of ways. He’s a very independent child.”

Ronaldo was asked if he would swap a possible Champions League for the League and Copa del Rey double of Barcelona, and what he thought of losing the Golden Boot to Luis Suarez.

“If we win the Champions League it’s a lot more than Barca’s double. The Champions League is the dream. I’m telling you from the heart, I wouldn’t change,” he replied.

“I was annoyed [at trailing Suarez], obviously. I was close. But I have to congratulate Suarez, who had a great season.”
