Navas ‘wants Madrid stay’

Keylor Navas hopes to stay at Real Madrid and agree an improved contract even as David De Gea is linked again.

The Manchester United goalkeeper is said to have a contract clause that allows Madrid to take him for €50m until June 15 but AS adds elsewhere that Navas, who was to go to Old Trafford in a part-exchange for De Gea last summer, would prefer to stay at Santiago Bernabeu.

Navas didn’t want to leave for United last summer either but with Madrid pushing the De Gea transfer, was ready to go and had agreed terms with the Premier League club – €4.4m a year.

That’s the salary he’s now seeking from Madrid after a year of being first choice and impressing in goal and is currently on half that amount.

But Navas is publically saying he is focused on the Champions League Final on May 28, having conceded only twice in the competition so far.
