Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas admits he may return to La Liga one day, but going back to Barcelona “is impossible, even if I wanted to”.
Fabregas ended a three-year spell with Barca in 2014 when he joined Chelsea, but after a Premier League title and League Cup triumph in his first season, an indifferent second term has fuelled speculation that he may abandon ship.
“Yes, why not?” he told Marca when asked if he could return to Spain in the future.
“Still, I’m honestly not thinking about it because I have a lot of unfinished business at Chelsea after how this season went.
“I’m not really thinking of anything else, but in my opinion, the Spanish League is the strongest with the English.
“Returning to Barca would no longer be possible. It’s impossible, even if I wanted to.
“The Barcelona stage [in my career] is over, it’s a closed chapter.”
