Report: United will offer €32m for Varane

Manchester United are ready to offer €32m for Real Madrid central defender Raphael Varane this summer.

The 23-year-old France international is back on United´s radar, according to the Daily Mirror, despite there being no official confirmation yet who will be on the bench at Old Trafford next season.

Varane, who has been unable to break up the first-choice defensive partnership of Sergio Ramos and Pepe at Madrid this term, was signed by Jose Mourinho in June 2011.

With the Portuguese tipped to replace Louis van Gaal at United, it would be a move that would see the pair reunited, although any deal could hinge on whether the Premier League qualify for the Champions League this weekend.

The Red Devils had Varane under consideration when he was a youngster at Lens but instead signed Phil Jones from Blackburn Rovers.

However, this season they have been plagued by injuries in central defence, with midfielder Daley Blind having filled in there, and are desperate for a top-class operator to shore up their back line.
