Liverpool & City ponder Rulli

Both Liverpool and Manchester City are considering a swoop for Real Sociedad goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli this summer.

Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp has not been convinced by Belgian international Simon Mignolet, despite him signing a five-year contract at Anfield in January, while Pep Guardiola has been impressed with Rulli´s ability to play the ball out of the area with both feet – an essential for incoming City Coach.

Rulli, 23, has spent the last two seasons on loan at Anoeta from Uruguayan outfit Deportivo Maldonado and has made the No 1 jersey his own.

He is also set to be a member of Argentina´s squad for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro this summer and has a contract with Maldonado that runs out at the end of June.

The player´s parent club have an option to extend it and then sell him for a fee, something they are likely to exercise should Liverpool or City come calling.

On March 20 last year the La Plata-born player was called up to Gerardo Martino´s Argentina squad for matches against Ecuador and El Salvador, but did not take part in either fixture.
