Emery: Heart, head and football

Unai Emery believes Sevilla need ‘hearts, heads and our football’ in the Europa League semi-final second leg against Shakhtar Donetsk.

The game is tied at 2-2 from the first leg in Ukraine as Los Rojiblancos look for a third consecutive Europa League trophy with either Villarreal or Liverpool the opponents in this year’s final, Emery marvelling at the situation his side are in.

“We live in a special time of hope, a moment of which we can never get tired. We have to be hungry to do something important, historic, and something that all Sevilla fans want. But, as well, we have to be aware of the difficulty, as we saw in the first leg. To counter that we need all the fans,” he told a pre-match Press conference, AS reports.

“From the Round of 16 we’d won all our away games. That makes us work hard on the details but now we have the factor of our supporters, our stadium, our intensity…in addition to heart we need our heads and our football. Using all that will take us closer to victory.

“I think both teams deserve to be in the semis, so it will be very difficult. There’s no overconfidence, because [the first leg result] is only decisive in the case of a draw.”
