‘Madrid must win by any means’

Casemiro has made it clear that Real Madrid must be prepared to win “by any means” against Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Madrid take a 0-0 draw from the Etihad Stadium into the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against City, who will not be able to count on any away goals, and Casemiro is ready to do whatever it takes to reach Milan as he urged madridistas to turn the Santiago Bernabeu into a fortress.

“I think it’ll be a very difficult match, especially because of our opponents,” the midfielder told a sponsor ahead of the match, Marca reports.

“The Champions League semi-finals are always complicated, but we can count on the Bernabeu and we’re confident [our fans] won’t fail us.

“We have a small advantage [playing at home], although the game will still be very difficult.

“Our fans are with us and they must support us as they did in our last Champions League match at home. City have to feel the wrath of the Bernabeu and our fans.

“We have to win by any means necessary. We have to score and win. We have to attack, play to win and always show a desire to be in the final.

“We have to play with a lot of attention [on Sergio Aguero], strength, attitude and character.

“Still, they don’t have only Aguero. They have other great players of great quality.

“We know that [Pepe] is great player and has been here for a long time.

“For me, he’s one of the best central defenders in the world and a player who gives us a lot of character and energy on the pitch.

“[On La Liga], we have to think game by game. Now we have the Champions League and we must be totally focused on that game, but we still have to do our job [in the League], win our remaining games and see what happens.

“[On scoring against City], I really wouldn’t care about how I scored. What I want to do is help Real Madrid reach the final.”
