Keylor content with clean sheet

Keylor Navas admits Real Madrid wanted to win the Champions League first leg against Manchester City but accepts the clean sheet.

The tie at the Etihad Stadium finished goalless with Joe Hart the busier of the two goalkeepers, Navas acknowledging the draw means Madrid can’t slip up at Santiago Bernabeu.

“We have to win. We have to give everything if we want to be in the final, so we have to win,” he confirmed, AS reports.

“Thank God everyone did a good job, concentrated and well-ordered defensively. That’s why we didn’t have problems at the back. They came forward but we didn’t make mistakes, and ultimately took control of the game.

“Yes, we all wanted to win, but it’s always good to get a result with a clean sheet. So we’ll take that and try to win at home.”

Madrid were without Cristiano Ronaldo, who failed a late fitness test, Navas saying the forward’s absence meant other squad members stepped up.

“All our teammates are aware that we have worked for this game. The team showed that when they’re given an opportunity, they give everything,” the Costa Rica international added.
