Sevila forgive Rami after Betis dig

Unai Emery says Sevilla have accepted Adil Rami’s pre-Betis apology after the defender claimed Sunday’s derby was “a preseason game”.

Rami’s attempt to stoke the fires before kick-off at the Sanchez Pizjuan backfired as his Instagram post that he did not consider Betis to be Sevilla’s rivals was quickly deleted, but Emery was happy to report water under the bridge between the defender and his employers.

“We have to win, the three points are very important,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“It’s a special game because its importance involves the entire footballing world. It gives us greater responsibility towards our fans to ensure they have a good day.

“We have to improve both our points tally in the table and our credibility.

“Those aside, I just want us to convey that we’ll fight for every minute and thus show that we can win.

“We need to win. We’re five points adrift of fifth place, so we need to give our best version and that requires us to be prepared for all circumstances, such as injuries or cards.

“I hope the players take to the pitch without thinking about what comes next.

“[On Rami], the club are very keen on communication. When we believe that something isn’t right, we have the means to find solutions.

“He asked for forgiveness and we appreciate that because this club have always shown great respect to Betis.”
