‘Hopefully Ronaldo’s injury isn’t serious’

Raphael Varane is hopeful Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury isn’t anything serious and Zinedine Zidane’s message to Real Madrid.

Madrid downed Villarreal to remain a point behind La Liga’s top two, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, but there is concern after Ronaldo left the pitch shortly before the end of play, with the forward to undergo tests.

“We’re concerned, we don’t know how he is. Let’s wait and see what happens but he’s a very important player for us. Hopefully it’s nothing serious,” Varane said regarding Ronaldo, AS reports.

“We’ll fight to the end of the season, and until the last moment. We can’t change the rest. Let’s see what happens. Nothing is easy. The Champions League is a very difficult competition. We have a lot of difficulty in La Liga.

“You have to play well to win games. There’s no competition easier than another. There are more games in La Liga, but that’s not easier.

“In the locker room Zidane tells us to keep a cool head, to calm down, think about our football and to give everything.”
