Ronaldo, Madrid negotiating new deal?

Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo are said to be in talks over a new contract that would keep the forward in the capital until 2020.

AS cites El Confidencial as claiming an extension to Ronaldo’s current deal, which expires in 2018, has been mooted, and the Portuguese would even happily sign until 2021.

An agreement is described as ‘imminent’ and the Madrid board want Ronaldo to see out his career at Santiago Bernabeu, as he would be 35 by the time the terms end in 2020.

The contract could be settled before the end of the season to allow Ronaldo to concentrate on Euro 2016 with Portugal and to galvanise Madrid in the event their appeal against a FIFA-imposed transfer embargo is unsuccessful.

‘Astronomical’ is how the monetary aspect of the proposed new deal is described and the report comes shortly after it was claimed, and then denied, that Ronaldo had met with Paris Saint-Germain President Nasser Al-Khelaifi in the past few weeks.
