Pepe has been linked with a return to Porto from Real Madrid, though the wages he receives at Santiago Bernabeu might get in the way.
AS quote Porto President Jorge Pinto Da Costa as confirming he would like to bring back some of the club’s previous big names, but might not be able to afford to do so.
“We must be realistic. Earning more than €5m complicates everything. I still hope someday he can come back, but I can’t guarantee it,” Pinto Da Costa is quoted as saying regarding Pepe and Bruno Alves, the Fenerbahce defender.
AS note, however, that Pepe’s Madrid contract expires in 2017 and this summer could provide the right time for him to return to Porto, and sign his last big contract, at the age of 33, even though he remains a regular in the Madrid team.
