Villarreal boss Marcelino says he “hopes we play 11 v 11 at the Bernabeu” in a possible hint to the referee after Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at Rayo Vallecano.
Miku’s late winner condemned Villarreal to their first defeat in over a month and cut their grip on fourth place in La Liga to six points with just five games remaining, and Marcelino immediately switched his focus to his side’s next match against Real Madrid.
“Rayo did more things to win than us,” the Coach said after the game.
“We didn’t win because we didn’t do enough. We weren’t so strong defensively, and in the second half we lacked attacking capacity.
“[Tiredness] isn’t an excuse for the defeat, but we still have fourth place in our hands.
“I hope we play 11 v 11 at the Bernabeu…”
