Ronaldo: I’ve had better games…

Cristiano Ronaldo was delighted to score his 37th Real Madrid hat-trick to eliminate Wolfsburg but said post-match he’s ‘had better games.’

Ronaldo made a rare stop in the mixed zone after the quarter-final second leg to chat to the Press and said it was a magical, perfect night.

“We knew we had to score three or more goals. It was an intense match. We controlled it. We were more intense and had more opportunities. We were the better team,” he said, AS reports.

“The fans in the Champions League and in La Liga are different. It’s always more vibrant in the Champions League. The players feel different, so it was a perfect night.

“I’d said it was going to be a magical night. The team was very good and so were the fans. The team played with intensity. And the fans were really great, supported us a lot and gave us a lot of strength to win a match that was complicated. It was a perfect night.”

Ronaldo admitted that the victory meant a lot to him on a personal level as he was able to score his 37th hat-trick for Madrid and add to his individual goal tally, having been criticised throughout the season.

“Yes, it was a magical night for me. I won’t lie, I’m happy to score and increase my numbers, but the most important thing is the team. We have paid tribute to [Pedro] de Felipe. I’m better than ever,” he continued.

“It wasn’t my biggest game. I’ve had better games despite the goals. People know I always give the maximum. The numbers don’t lie. I know working brings results. God helps those who work. I’m going to bed now and I feel great.”
