Bale: We showed the world

Gareth Bale believes Real Madrid showed the world how strong their spirit is, while Keylor Navas thanked the fans for their support against Wolfsburg.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored three unanswered goals as Los Blancos came from 2-0 down in the quarter-final first leg to reach the Champions League’s last four, Bale and Navas speaking to reporters post-match.

“It was a tough game, but we were able to do what we wanted to,” Bale said, AS reports.

“We’ve shown the world what we are capable of. We’ve shown the world our spirit.”

Navas was behind Bale in the mixed zone and he applauded the packed Santiago Bernabeu for their help in coming back against the Bundesliga side.

“It was a perfect night, as Cristiano predicted it would be. It was great to feel the support of the fans, which spurred us on and pushed us to victory,” the goalkeeper added.

“We all gave everything from the first minute to the last and deserved to win. We’re calm and we know we’re improving. We have a good team and can make it difficult for anyone. We have to play every game as if it was our last.

“The support when we arrived and saw people with that desire, that inspiration, it’s very hard not to feel inspired to give everything. We’re very happy with the support of the fans.

“Ronaldo? He’s the best in the world and he showed it. What did I say to him before his free-kick? What I said didn’t change anything.”
