Escriba: I could leave Getafe

Fran Escriba has admitted that he will leave Getafe on Monday “if the club don’t think I have the strength anymore” after their 2-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano.

Geta’s winless run was extended to 11 matches on Friday, with their last win coming in mid-January, as goals from Javi Guerra and Miku left them in La Liga’s relegation zone, leaving the Coach to concede his future was hanging in the balance.

“It’s only up to me whether I train the team on Monday,” the Coach said after the game.

“If the club don’t think I have the strength anymore then I won’t.

“We started the game well, but the disallowed goal demoralised us and then we didn’t make many chances.

“What’s said in the dressing room stays private. It’s not the time to castigate the team, but they need to give more in every aspect.

“I saw [new boy Henok Goitom] to be very lively. I think he’ll give us a lot.

“We’re not here to count [points]. We have to keep going game by game.”
