Laporte looking at four months out

Aymeric Laporte’s season is over after it was confirmed the Athletic Bilbao defender will need three to four months to recover from a fractured ankle.

Laporte suffered the injury representing the France Under-21 side against Scotland and Mundo Deportivo reports that after surgery, he will be unavailable until the summer.

The injury rules Laporte out of not only the rest of the campaign but ends his chances of breaking into Les Bleus’ senior squad for Euro 2016.

It’s also noted that he has attracted the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with both Barcelona and Manchester City said to have been keen on his signature.
