Kaka: Respect Ronaldo more

Kaka believes the Real Madrid fans should show more respect to former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

The former Brazil international recommended Ronaldo remain at Santiago Bernabeu but called on the supporters to understand what the forward has contributed since 2009.

“I’d say he should remain at Madrid. The proportions of things that go on there is very big, for both sides,” Kaka told Cadena Cope, Marca reports.

“If things don’t go well then the proportions are big, but if they do go well then it’s very big too. What’s happened to Cristiano and to his name is because he played for Madrid.

“Cristiano is a great player. I’m not talking about quality, but what he has contributed to Madrid, and I would like to see the fans have more respect for what he has done for this club.

“Listen, sometimes whistling against Cristiano isn’t good for all he has done.”

Kaka added that Ronaldo isn’t the only one to have fallen on the wrong side of the fans despite having succeeded in the white shirt.

“You know this can happen when you play for Madrid. It’s not only with Cristiano. It’s happened with [Zinedine] Zidane, with Raul, Iker Casillas,” he pointed out.

“It’s always the case. You know you’re going to get fans like this at Madrid. The only thing I would like is more appreciation for Cristiano as he has done a lot.”
