Enrique: Cruyff football at its best

Luis Enrique remembered Johan Cruyff as ‘football at its best’ as the Barcelona Coach and squad paid tribute to the iconic former player and trainer.

Cruyff passed away last week and Camp Nou had housed a memorial to the Dutchman, with Jordi Cruyff attending on Tuesday and thanking the football world for the show of respect to his father.

“To talk about Cruyff is to talk about football at its best,” AS quotes Enrique as saying at the commemoration, attended by the Barca players who have returned from international duty.

“It’s remarkable to see the photo of Johan Cruyff. It’s something that comes to you. He was someone who imposed respect.

“He became one of the greatest players of all-time and as a Coach, seeing football differently and wanting the spectacular over winning trophies.

“It is a great loss for the world of football. He leaves a great and important legacy. Barca will continue with this philosophy and we will try to continue copying and improving the style of play with football on the attack.

“Now we must be with the family. We will always remember him.”
