Lionel Messi has admitted that he “likes English and Italian football” but does not see himself playing for a club other than Barcelona.
The Argentine has been linked with moves to the Premier League and Serie A at various stages of his career, with the former gaining more publicity due to its lucrative nature, but he insists his attraction to the two divisions is only limited to television.
“We’re in a team sport and every year we set common objectives,” he told MBC.
“If a player does well and the team doesn’t, it’s no good.
“You always have to put the team first, not yourself. Both my teammates and I think so.
“It doesn’t matter who scores the goals. The truth is that I get along with all my colleagues
“I’ve known many of them for years and practically I don’t have to see what my teammate is doing to know what they’ll do.
“I like English football and I like Italian football. I follow the big games but, as I’ve said before, my intention is to continue at Barca for many years and retire there.
“I hope I don’t have to change clubs, but in football you never know. Things can change from one day to another.”
