Casemiro has claimed that Real Madrid “are criticised because we’re the best team in the world” after Sunday’s 2-1 win at Las Palmas.
Madrid maintained their unbeaten run away from home under Zinedine Zidane at Gran Canaria, but their performance in the 2-1 victory came under fire, and Casemiro believes the scrutiny is heightened when you are playing for a team of Los Blancos’ stature.
“We know we didn’t do well, but I’ll take the three points,” he said after the game.
“There are days when we’re not able to be [at our best]. It’s not easy to play at Las Palmas.
“They did very well, plus other big teams have struggled here.
“We’re criticised when we play badly because we’re the best team in the world.
“It doesn’t matter who we get. Whoever they are will be very difficult. You can’t choose, you simply have to win.
“Of course [the League isn’t lost]. We’ll fight to the end, even if it’s very difficult.”
