Marcelino believes Villarreal would gain “an important advantage” in La Liga’s race for Champions League qualification with victory over Sevilla on Sunday.
The Yellow Submarine remain fourth in the table, eight points ahead of the Andalucians, despite losing and drawing each of their last two games, and the Coach emphasised the significance of his side ending their opponents’ home dominance.
“A win would leave [Sevilla] needing to catch up on four games with only nine remaining, which would be an important advantage,” he said at a Press conference.
“Still, it’ll be a very difficult game in which we know we must do things as best as possible to achieve a positive outcome.
“[Sevilla] are a great team with a great squad and at their place I believe they’ve won 12 straight games, which shows how difficult our task is.
“For me, they’re one of the best teams in the League.
“They have many ways of playing, either on the wings, from set-pieces, with patience, counterattacking or strategically.
“They have many possibilities to take the lead in games.
“It’s a very difficult, but as we did in those games [against Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao], we can achieve a good result.
“[On five injuries and Roberto Soldado’s suspension], the other players are fine.
“We’re not suffering from Thursday’s game against Bayer Leverkusen, and that’s very important for such a complicated game as the one against Sevilla.”
