Zidane praise for Madrid quartet

Zinedine Zidane singled out Casemiro, Lucas Vazquez, James Rodriguez and Cristiano Ronaldo after Real Madrid’s Champions League progression on Tuesday.

Madrid defeated Roma 4-0 on aggregate in the last 16 thanks to second-leg goals from Ronaldo and James, but Zidane was also keen on recognising the performances given by his younger charges, with Casemiro starting once more and Vazquez releasing the Portuguese for Los Blancos’ opener.

“It was a difficult game but in the end we got our objective which was to go through, and we didn’t concede a goal,” the Coach said after the game, UEFA.com reports.

“Over the 90 minutes many things could have happened because we were up against a team with good and fast footballers. But we got the job done.

“Casemiro played well, like everyone else. Lucas [Vazquez] was also important. He gives everything whenever he plays and he always competes.

“The fans always want more from their players. I’m happy with James’ goal. He is training well, and it’s always important for a player like him to score.

“Every time Cristiano is on the pitch he wants to score, and he keeps doing it. We can now look forward to the draw and relax, we need to rest.”
