‘Getafe have to win now’

Getafe Coach Fran Escriba admits the team is ‘hurt’ by a run of six straight defeats and ‘we have to break this streak.’

El Geta have lost their last six League games and go to Las Palmas on Tuesday night for a relegation six-pointer, the sides separated by two places and two points in Getafe’s favour.

“The group is hurt. We try to take the positives and in the last game [against Celta Vigo] we did better and deserved more,” Escriba told the Press, AS reports.

“We have to go to Las Palmas like it’s a final. We have all the encouragement to start to win and break the streak.

“Las Palmas play like Celta. They move the ball around and we have to block the space between the lines.

“They had doubts [the first time they played, when Las Palmas won 4-0] and now with Quique Setien they have stability.

“Whenever I’ve been in a run like this I say defeat is getting closer. I’m convinced this has to stop and that victory will come in the next game.

“This team has been in similar situations and always reacted. When we win we’ll clean ourselves off and move forward. This is the game.”
