Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has confirmed that his club are in talks to sign Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega this summer.
Despite Sevilla’s insistence that Banega’s contract was automatically extended after he played his 30th game of the season last Thursday against Molde, the Argentine is reportedly confident of invalidating the agreement in court.
Providing a settlement is reached, the 27-year-old will be free to depart Sanchez Pizjuan on a Bosman at the end of the season, and the Nerazzurri are hopeful of substantiating their long-standing interest in the player.
“Yes, it’s true that [Banega] is a real possibility,” Ausilio told Sport Mediaset.
“We’ve written to Sevilla so they know we’re talking to the player.
“It’s a question which has to do with the good relations and respect which exists between the two clubs.
“He’s a player we like and a possibility for us.”
