Enrique Cerezo has expressed his belief that reported Chelsea target Diego Simeone will stay at Atletico Madrid “for a long time”.

Simeone extended his contract with Atleti to 2020 little under a year ago, and Cerezo is confident the Argentine will honour the next four years, despite speculation that Chelsea have identified him as their primary target to succeed Guus Hiddink in the summer.

“We’ll go out [against Madrid] and try to win,” the President told Radio Marca.

“We’re in a scoring drought at the moment, but we’ll overcome it.

“[On the tight scheduling between Champions League and La Liga games], we’ve complained to the LFP each time it’s happened.

“Cholo is fine where he is, and I think he’ll be here for a long time.

“[On Fernando Torres], the love that Simeone has given Fernando Torres is infinite.

“[On winning the Champions League], the Champions League owes us a [title]. I hope luck is on our side.

“[On hosting the Copa del Rey final], we’re proud to host the cup final, although it may well be the last at the Calderon.”
