Lionel Messi describes his relationship with Neymar and Luis Suarez as ‘wonderful’ after the three combined to help Barcelona beat Arsenal.
Messi scored both goals in the win over the Gunners but the first game through a counter-attack in which Suarez and Neymar combined.
“It was a very fast break which is how we like to play – with open space – and luckily we were able to do that,” Messi told UEFA’s official website.
“Neymar passed to me and I managed to score. It's wonderful playing with them. We get along really well on and off the pitch.
“We really are friends and that is really important to enable us to play this kind of football.”
Messi added that despite Barca taking a comfortable victory at the Emirates Stadium, it was in fact a tough game.
“It was a difficult match – we played against a great team and we had to work hard and dig deep to get this result,” he stressed.
“The second leg won't be easy, just like this game, but of course we are going to play to win from the off.”
