Eraso: Marseille an opportunity

Javier Eraso sees Athletic Bilbao’s Europa League second leg with Marseille as a chance to leave behind Basque derby defeat.

Athletic lost at San Mames to Real Sociedad on Sunday and host Marseille on Thursday with a one-goal lead from the first game a week ago.

“The derby is forgotten, we just think about the next game. Defeat against La Real hurt. We shouldn’t have lost,” Eraso told AS.

“We have an opportunity not to be missed on Thursday. If we knock out Marseille it will give us the courage to continue.

“We got a good result in the first leg but we can’t relax because they are a good team. We’ll go out to win, that’s not a mystery.

“They’ll be freer without the pressure of their fans, but we can’t lose two straight at home. We’re not dumb and we’re not going to commit suicidal attacks. We have to play a good, serious game.

“Our fans always support us. I’ve no complaints about the atmosphere. We all get upset about losing.”
