Ivan Rakitic has revealed that Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar are “the closest best friends in the world”.
Messi, Suarez and Neymar have spent the past season-and-a-half breaking records, to the extent that they have been revered as the best attacking trident in history, and Rakitic claimed the trio’s friendship …
“Although they are different characters, on the pitch there is pure harmony between them,” the midfielder told Croatian publication Jutarnji List.
“It may sound like an exaggeration, but Messi, Suarez and Neymar are the closest best friends in the world and possibly the best [trident] in the history of football.
“We’re fighting to avoid resting on our laurels. There’s no possibility of such an attitude entering the dressing room.
“Sometimes we’re spectacular, we succeed and achieve many goals, but we still feel we can improve. You can always improve.
“I’m focused on taking every opportunity to improve, enhance and improve my form, everything is possible.
“The hardest part of the season is still ahead, so everything has to be better [in what we do].
“[Luis Enrique’s] great. He’s analytical and leaves nothing to chance.
“A player not specifically carrying out what is expected of him never happens. He has clear plans, knows what he wants from the team and talks to the players.
“The League is always the most important, but our ambitions are always the same and can be summarised as this: We’ll try to win everything which is offered to us.”
