Barcelona technical director Robert Fernandez was in attendance during Schalke’s defeat to Mainz to watch Leroy Sane.
Mundo Deportivo reports Robert’s presence in the Friday night fixture, to which he was accompanied by his right-hand-man, Urbano Ortega.
Sane is described by the Catalan publication as one of Barca’s ‘main objectives’ and it’s noted he has a release clause of €37m built into his contract.
It wasn’t the first time Robert has watched Sane, MD add, but Barca face competition from many of Europe’s heavyweights for the 20-year-old.
Real Madrid are specifically mentioned while Manchester City’s former Barca director Txiki Begiristain is said to have travelled to Germany to watch Sane as well, and City Coach-in-waiting Pep Guardiola is an admirer.
City’s Premier League rivals Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are also said to be keeping tabs on the midfielder.
