Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin has been touted as Chelsea’s preferred option to replace captain John Terry.
Terry’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires this summer and it’s not yet clear if he’ll be offered a new one after Terry said he’d be leaving, and interim manager Guus Hiddink said nothing’s been decided.
AS cites reports from England that say the Blues want Godin, and Atletico Coach Diego Simeone has also been mentioned as a candidate to succeed Jose Mourinho on a permanent basis.
But it’s noted that Godin could have quit Vicente Calderon for Manchester City last summer but rejected the proposal, signing a new deal with Los Colchoneros instead.
