Juanfran Moreno believes Deportivo La Coruna “are in a privileged position”, despite a seventh game without a win in 2016 on Saturday against Sporting Gijon.
Depor’s barren start to the year continued in Week 23 as they drew 1-1 with the Asturians, Luis Alberto cancelling out Jony Rodriguez’s opener before half-time, but the midfielder is confident his side will end their slump sooner rather than later.
“We have 31 points and are in a privileged position to reach our objective of survival,” he said after the game.
“We still haven’t won [this year], but we must continue doing what we’ve been doing because I believe the win will come.
“All the teams now need to pick up points, especially those in ‘our’ League, who are aspiring for Europe at the moment.
“I'm sure we’ll get the win [against Real Betis next week].
“We’ve only lost four games all season and that’s very positive, but we want to break our duck against Betis.”
