Emery demands ’11 gladiators’

Unai Emery has demanded “11 gladiators” take to the Balaidos pitch when Sevilla rematch with Celta Vigo on Sunday in La Liga.

Los Nervionenses raced to a 3-0 first-leg lead over the Galicians in the Copa del Rey semi-finals midweek, but the Coach maintained the game was a “small final” due to the proximity of the two sides in the table, with his team two points clear in the League.

“The League is the greatest judge of our consistency and credibility,” he said at a Press conference.

“The importance is from the first to last day. We play for every three points with maximum intensity.

“We remember how they took the victory [at Sanchez Pizjuan] in the first half of the season.

“We’re two points ahead of them, so it’s a small final. They’re a direct rival of ours in the League.

“We’ve had a hard time getting to fifth, but the challenge is staying there.

“I do not know if the result would make us change the preconceived idea for the knockout/

“[On rotations], we’ll see who's in the best shape to play, although we’re aware we made a big effort on Thursday.

“We won’t only will look at physical condition, but also if they’re at 100 hundred percent in terms of team dynamics.

“We need 11 gladiators to play better than Celta so we can increase our credibility away from home.

“We’ve done everything [away from home], but the results haven’t followed.”
