Cerezo initially appeared to distance Atleti from Costa at an earlier radio interview with Cadena SER, but the President quickly changed his tune later on Thursday as he confessed his club would “do our best” to broker a deal for the striker in the summer.
“Diego is a great player, but he belongs to Chelsea,” he said.
“We’ll try to do our best and see what his club say because his arrival won’t depend on us.
“We always we want the best players and Diego Costa is one of them.”
