Emery: Anyone but Barca!

Unai Emery hopes Sevilla “stay away from Barcelona as far as possible” in the Copa del Rey semi-finals after eliminating Mirandes on Thursday.

Goals from Vicente Iborra (penalty), Juan Munoz and Coke made easy work of the Segunda side in a 3-0 win to propel the Andalucians into the last four, having triumphed 5-0 on aggregate, and the Coach made no secret of who he wanted to avoid in Friday’s draw.

“If I could choose, I’d stay away from Barcelona as far as possible,” he said after the game.

“It’s a competition which excites us, and we have high hopes [of winning it].

“Still, all three competitions are very important and there isn’t one which takes priority.

“Mirandes were worthy opponents who showed their quality [in the first leg], so we wanted to set the bar high from the beginning.

“We were always in control and the first goal gave us the confidence and tranquillity needed to kill off the tie.

“We can’t ignore any competition and must maintain the very high demands [placed on us].”
