A report from Spain insists Cristiano Ronaldo cost Real Madrid more than Gareth Bale and so he remains the world’s most expensive player.
It was claimed after details of Bale’s move from Tottenham Hotspur were leaked that the arrangement made the Wales international’s transfer the record.
But Marca argue Ronaldo is the costliest, as Madrid eventually paid a total of €104.7m to Manchester United for the Portugal international.
Marca say that when taxes are taken into account, and the loans Madrid arranged with two banks, Banco Santander and Caja, for the deal, it surpasses the sum paid for Bale.
