Napoli, Roma bidding for Nacho

Real Madrid defender Nacho has two Serie A suitors as Napoli and Roma prepare to battle it out for the utility man.

AS cites COPE as saying Roma have offered €8m for Nacho, who appears to be out of favour under Zinedine Zidane, who has left the cantera product out of his last two match day squads.

Napoli’s interest dates back to the summer, AS adds, but Nacho felt the confidence of Rafa Benitez and so was happy to stay at Santiago Bernabeu.

But that might not be the case under Zidane as, for example, with Sergio Ramos missing against Sporting Gijon, the trainer preferred to name three right-backs – Dani Carvajal, Danilo and Alvaro Arbeloa – in the squad, and ignored Nacho.

Madrid though may still prefer to keep Nacho as they don’t want to add another centre-back in the winter window, particularly as they could have two of them joining the squad in the summer.

Diego Llorente is on loan at Rayo Vallecano and Diego Vallejo was signed from Real Zaragoza last year and loaned back to the Segunda side, each vying for a place in the squad next season.

Madrid are meanwhile confident of overturning the transfer embargo recently imposed by FIFA, but with the sanction still hanging over them, are reluctant to let anyone go before it is clarified.

Zidane has also said there will not be any comings or goings in the first team in the January market.
