Madrid consider ‘Plan C’?

Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up the possibility of making signings this month, with Schalke’s Leroy Sane their primary target.

According to Marca, there is a split among Madrid staff over whether the club will be forced to sit out their FIFA-imposed transfer ban but also a common belief that the balance could tip in either direction.

Consequently, Los Blancos are in the process of assessing their needs as they face the prospect of going a year without reinforcements.

Top of their list is believed to be Sane, who has also attracted interest from Barcelona but is nonetheless an “object of desire” for Madrid.

However, they are well stocked in the attacking-midfield department, with Isco and James Rodriguez established in the first team and youngsters Marco Asensio and Martin Odegaard in reserve.

A deal for David de Gea is also being considered, although the newspaper does not expect any movement before the end of January.
