Diego Simeone still believes Rayo Vallecano pose a threat to Atletico Madrid’s Copa del Rey future but feels home advantage will be a factor.
The sides are level from the first leg and meet at Vicente Calderon on Thursday, with Simeone speaking to the Press about the fixture.
“They’re an awkward opponent for every team. A brave team, always with the idea of an attacking game,” he said, AS reports.
“When we got them in the draw I said they were a dangerous team. I still think the same. We’ll try to take the match where we want to go.
“For playing against Rayo it’s a positive [to be at home] because they’re not a team that stops to think about the defensive phase.
“This type of game is dangerous. You can go 1-0 up but the opponent doesn’t change anything. They’ll always go for the goal.
“We’ll play with a team we think can carry out the game and with players we believe can take the match forward.”
