Messi: I always want to do better

Barcelona forward and 2015 FIFA Ballon d’Or favourite Lionel Messi has revealed how “every year I try to do better than my previous years”.

The No 10 is expected to win the Ballon d’Or for a record fifth time after a year which saw him score 50 goals and assist another 22 in 62 appearances, despite an injury sidelining him between September and November, as La Blaugrana won five trophies, including a historic second treble last season.

“Just like Cristiano was saying, just to be here is a pleasure, it’s a beautiful thing,” he said at the Press conference ahead of Monday’s gala in Zurich.

“I’m here to try and enjoy it. If I win it or the others win it it’s all the same.

“Every year I try to do better than in my previous years. Last year thankfully I managed to beat almost all of them, we had an amazing year.

“I think we finished the year with a lot of good work. Our year was full of happiness and victories, to choose just one is hard.”
